Project 365, Week 5

I'm not totally crazy about this page, but it's another one complete.

A new digi trick

The DSM forum has a new contest out: Lucky in Love. April posted two head start challenges (for obsessive people like me...) and one is to create a layout with a repeating pattern. I understand this could be anything... photos that are square, circle, square, circle; or using stitching; or ... you remember those find the pattern problems from elementary school.

Well I decided I wanted to make an embossing pattern. It took me two hours to design the pattern, but once you do it you just tell it to fill the whole area with the pattern and it repeats. Does that make sense? And I can use this over and over with any shape or with any color.

Now I just have to figure out how to incorporate it into a layout. But needless to say I am very proud of my new trick!

The Yuck Yucks revisited

Just when I thought the virus was all out of our house.... surprise! I had to pick up Haven from school this morning because she hasn't stopped ... the yuck yucks ... for an hour straight. Oh my poor baby...

WHAT?!?!

Sick at Home

I hate being home sick. It's so boring! I'm too miserable to do anything productive, so all I can do is sleep and play on the computer. Ethan's been sick all week, and Rob and I got it yesterday. Haven is trying desperately to avoid all contact with us so she doesn't get it! LOL!

Yesterday the band Pierce came to play at the church. They're fun. I didn't get to enjoy it though. Ended up leaving half way through because I felt so ill. Haven and Rob got to enjoy them though!

Today Ethan was totally talking and walking in his sleep. He started screaming at me that there was something in the chair and pointing to it and everything. Eyes open, walking around. Nothing in the chair... I talked him in to laying back down and he was back to sleep! So funny.

Swimming outside in January?

That's right! I finally went to check out Fildorado with the kids. The water was a little colder than I had hoped, but I finally got in and had fun. They have a wave pool, whirl pool, slides, lap pool, baby pool, and this indoor/outdoor pool. That pool was the warmest, like bath water. I couldn't convince Ethan to go outside! I can't imagine why! But Haven swam with Sarah and Jacob and they did everything. Of course I forgot to take my camera IN to the pool, so I only got pictures of the outside of the building after we left!

In other news, I decided I'm way to addicted to caffeine and decided to quit. Yeah... brilliant, I know. But I'm now three days caffeine free and not dying! Just watch out for my temper... It's a little short. :P

Thank You

Printed cards will go in the mail this year, but I wanted to at least let you all know that we appreciate our Christmas gifts and we love you all!

Zurich, Switzerland

So how many people can say that they just "popped over to Switzerland" for the day? There's a men's retreat in Lenk this weekend and Rob was picking up the speaker and crew from the airport, but the van had this TINY trunk space! So I followed Rob down to Zurich in my car. Good thing too because we filled the van and my car with all the luggage.

So we hung out in Zurich for a few hours before we went on down to Lenk.

This is a statue of Ulrich Zwingli. He was part of the Swiss reformation.

This was the big cathedral, aptly named the Gross Muenster.
This tree is so cool. It's all metal with these fun balls. They were lining the river walk.
This was funny. I just wanted a picture of Ethan in front of the cathedral and he wanted to play cover model!
After we dropped off the luggage and the people Rob drove me back to Stuttgart. We got back around 1:30 am this morning. He rode BACK to Lenk this morning with another car full of guys going to the retreat. It was really cool spending the afternoon there in Zurich, and the people we were with were really nice. It was fun introducing some fellow Texans to Europe! :)

Vapiano

Rob took me to this trendy little pasta bar downtown today. It's the kind where you go to each station and order your food and it charges a little card. Then you pay the card at the end. The pizzas are all made fresh, the pasta noodles are made in the kitchen daily, the deserts are all made fresh, they have herb plants all over the place, including on the tables... It was delicious pasta! I had a pasta dish and bruschetta and I was STUFFED! Next time I'm getting desert! It's near the Hauptbahnhof end off Koenigstr. It's busy so I recommend leaving kids behind. But bring a big appetite!

My First Movie in German!

We went to the Ufa cineplex in Stuttgart last night with a group of friends to watch Transporter 3. That's great and all, except the movie was in German! So I figured if anything would be good for my first movie all in German (no subtitles by the way) what would be better than Jason Stathom, fast cars, and marial arts! It was great! I only had to ask Rob what was going on twice! So the moral of the story... if you're going to watch a movie in a foreign language with no subtitles, stick to action!!! LOL!

365 Days Project

I heard about this year long scrapbooking project from here. The goal is to take a picture every day and scrapbook them all. M Originals is doing one template each week to help people get inspired to use their photos. This is my first week's pages. I'm not sure that I like them... but it's still a fun project! :)

Happy New Year!

We spent the New Year holiday in St. Albain, France at a Chateau for a youth retreat.

St. Albain is a small village in Bourgogne. The nearest larger town is Macon, where we spent one afternoon. This is for the Jennys.

The trip was totally fun and had just the right amount of activities to be fun and have time to relax. I made a couple of things too, but I'll have to photograph them and post later.
